About Wembo

WEMBO, the World Endurance Mountain Bike Organisation, was formed in September 2011 to fill the void when there was no 2011 World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championship.

WEMBO is a group of like-minded mountain bike clubs and promoters from around the world with vast experience in hosting 24 Hour Mountain Bike Races. They have agreed to stage annual World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championship events to ensure the future of the sport of Solo 24 Hour racing at the highest level and to meet the needs of the riders.

WEMBO was founded by Russell Baker in 2011.  The 3 founding members are:

  • DURT Pty Ltd (Australia)
  • No Fuss Events (Scotland)
  • Blu Bike (Italy)

Together they bring over 50 years of 24 Hour race experience to the table.

The first 3 WEMBO World Championship Events were:

  • 24 Hours of Finale Ligure, Finale Ligure, Italy (2012)
  • Scott Australian 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships, Canberra, Australia (2013)
  • Relentless 24 Hour, Fort William, Scotland (2014)

It is our aim at WEMBO to have a rolling 3 year schedule for the WEMBO World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships. This will provide the riders with a planned series of events, in sufficient time for them to prepare for this arduous sport.

WEMBO Vision
The WEMBO World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships will provide true world-wide competition and be recognised by mountain bikers, spectators, the cycling industry and media as the pinnacle of the sport.

WEMBO Mission
To create a predictable, regular and reliable set of quality world-wide events in which the World's best 24 hour mountain bikers can test themselves against each other at the highest level.
